Job Summary

Improves 9-12 Mathematics through coaching, providing professional development focused on improving instruction, and supporting teachers and school based coaches.

Essential Functions

1. Develops and delivers professional development for teachers in mathematics content and instructional strategies for the assigned grades, schools and/or content area.
2. Provides support to individual classroom teachers in curriculum implementation, mathematics content, use of instructional materials and strategies, use of data to improve instruction by implementing coaching cycle (pre-conference, model, co-teach, observe, debrief).
3. Assists schools with analysis of school, class, and student data, and develops appropriate instructional strategies.
4. Supports Lesson Study at schools by providing mathematics content expertise.
5. Conducts model mathematics lessons, co-teaches, observes, and provides specific feedback to classroom teachers on instruction and/or management.
6. Provides support for school-based professional development to build school capacity.
7. Leads development and facilitation of professional learning communities.
8. Develops and/or revises training syllabi and curriculum guides. Provides training follow through and support using implementation rubrics.
9. Participates in evaluation and selection of instructional materials, equipment, and supplies appropriate for district standards-based mathematics curriculum.
10. Implements Understanding by Design, a nationally recognized foundation for curriculum planning, assessment, and instruction, and the Gradual Release of Responsibility model for lesson planning in professional development both at the district level and with teachers and coaches in schools.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Five (5) years of successful secondary classroom mathematics teaching experience. Experience in creating and conducting professional development. Knowledge of Common Core State Standards for Mathematics preferred.

Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education Certification in Secondary Mathematics.
