Coordinator of Adult Faith Formation Programming

This is not a remote position.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Formation Programming provides day-to-day leadership for the administrative areas of the Diocesan Ministry Formation Program (MFP). While this is the primary role, the Coordinator will also be responsible for some administrative areas in the Christian Formation Office. This would include catechist certification tracking and the organization and execution of other adult formation opportunities as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry Formation-In collaboration with the Director of Ministry Formation and the Advisory Board of MFP:
- Coordinates publicity and public relations for the program.
- Coordinates annual retreat, closing ceremony, class orientations, and faculty/advisory board meetings including the arranging of facilities and hospitality.
- Oversees admissions, obtaining applications and required paperwork.
- Maintains all student files and student records.
- Tracks tuition payments.
- Selects volunteers for the program from the alumni and provides formation to support them.
- Serves as secretary and ex officio member of the MFP Advisory Board.
- Prepares website updates for MFP portion of the website and the website.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the director, as needed for the continuity of the Ministry Formation Program.
- In collaboration with the Director of the Office of Christian Formation:
- Assists in the planning, organizing and execution of the Catechist Certification opportunities throughout the diocese.
- Approves certification paperwork.
- Oversees certification database.
- Notifies parish leadership when certification is not up to date.
- Provides support to all areas of the diocese as opportunities arise.
- Presents workshops as needed depending on areas of expertise and competence.
- Bachelor's degree in Catholic theology or religious education (Master's preferred) A graduate of a certified lay ministry program would be considered with years of progressive experience.
- Familiarity with essential Church documents pertaining to formation, including but not limited to:
- Appreciation of post-Vatican II theology.
- Knowledge and appreciation of the structure of the Catholic Church.
- 3-5 years leading the formation of adults.
- Dedication to the area of formation.
- Candidate must be a practicing Roman Catholic possessing the ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic faith and must be a Catholic in good standing with the Church.
- Must be able to maintain confidential information, exercise good judgement and work independently as well as in a team environment; supervisory and interpersonal skills are required.
- Exceptional organizational and management skills.
- Professional behavior regarding absences and tardiness.
- Ability to administer programming to meet the assessed needs of Diocesan entities.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced office.
- Good interpersonal communication and pastoral skills.
- Proven ability to lead and assess the adult learner.
- Bilingual Spanish/English would be an asset.
- Proficient with information technology including Microsoft Office Suite, social media usage, web site contributor level should be proficient.
- The ability to respect and value the cultural richness that makes up the Diocese of St. Augustine and society and strives to celebrate commonalities and differences among various groups.
- Ability to project oneself in a positive, professional, sincere and friendly manner. Must maintain appropriate professional business attire and behavior
- This position entails regular evening and Saturday work. However, flextime will be considered for work-life balance.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
