As an Elementary Instructional Aide, you will assist in the general supervision and management of children, allowing teachers more time to focus on educational needs.

How You Will Impact Education
  • Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies for students’ daily activities.
  • Work individually or in small groups with students to review classroom instruction, listen to reading groups, or assist with answering questions.
  • Supervise outside playground activities.
  • Help with general housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist the teacher in any other appropriate ways.
  • Perform clerical tasks.
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect.
  • Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences, including any required in‑service training.
  • Operate and care for instructional equipment used in the classroom.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
  • Follow directions given by the head teacher or immediate supervisor.
Student Management
  • Assist with the supervision of students outside the classroom such as on field trips, during play periods, lunchroom activities, dismissal, etc.
  • Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
School/Community Relations
  • Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and conscientiousness.
  • Cooperate and share professionally with other staff members.
  • Promote high academic achievement for all children.
  • Promote a greater focus on teaching and learning.
  • Promote flexibility to stimulate local initiatives while taking responsibility for student performance.
  • Promote improved linkages among schools, parents, and communities.
Required Qualifications And Skills
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment toward the position and the mission of the company; support the company’s values in academic excellence, operational performance, superior culture, and financial growth.
  • Have strong time‑management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Build effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, the community, and administrative staff.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, including oral, written, active listening, negotiating, and influencing.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and responsive to management direction and feedback for performance improvement.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System, and email communications.
  • Seek ways to improve and promote quality, accuracy, and thoroughness.
  • Implement consistently best practices and positive character education.
Job Requirements
  • High school degree, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Pass a successful criminal and employment background check.
  • Experience working with children, preferably with disabilities.
  • Be on the path to become professionally prepared to supervise young children.
  • Alternative qualifications acceptable if deemed appropriate by CSUSA.

Work Environment

Physical Demands

  • Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
  • Light work:
    Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds repeatedly to move objects.
