Job DescriptionTEACHER STARTING SALARY IS $48,700. Additional Referendum money is available for the next two years starting at $7,730 for the 26-27 school year; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on the date of hire.
Job Summary
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the district’s philosophy. Establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and communicates them to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the location and the needs of students, and strives to implement the district’s instructional goals and objectives.
Essential Functions- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students; prepare and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning that matches the maturity and interests of students.
- Supervise students to protect them from harmful conditions and ensure safety, taking reasonable precautions.
- Assess student achievements regularly and provide progress reports; maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
- Diagnose learning disabilities of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life; develop classroom behavior rules, maintain order fairly; encourage standards of behavior.
- Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours as required or requested under reasonable terms.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s); evaluate their performance cooperatively with department heads.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: None.
- Certifications & Licenses: Eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.
- Knowledge of subject content.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills.
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading, lesson plan preparation, etc.
- Ability to manage students.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Full-Time
Salary$48,700 to $78,900 per year
