Duval County Public Schools A PHILIP RANDOLPH ACADEMY/TECH – Jacksonville, Florida
Starting Date: Immediately
Job Description Teacher starting salary is $48,700. Additional referendum money is available for the next two years starting at $7,730 for the 26-27 school year; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on the date of hire.
Job Summary
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the District’s philosophy of education. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these objectives to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media that meet the needs and capabilities of students.
Essential Functions
Meet and instruct assigned classes at the designated locations and times.Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students; prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.Supervise students to protect them from conditions harmful to learning and/or to their mental and/or physical health and safety. Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required; maintain accurate, complete, and correct records per law, District policy, and regulation.Diagnose learning disabilities of students regularly and seek assistance from District specialists as required.Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure; maintain order in the classroom fairly and justly; encourage students to set and maintain behavior standards.Make provision to be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside instructional hours when required or requested on reasonable terms.Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers; evaluate their job performance cooperatively with department heads.Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: None.
- Certifications & Licenses: Eligible for Florida Department of Education certification in the appropriate subject area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of subject content.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets students’ individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading, lesson planning, etc.
- Ability to manage students.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
