Teacher — High School Social Studies (6-12)
Frank H. Peterson Academy/Tech, Duval County Public Schools, Jacksonville, FL
Schedule:
Full-Time. Starting date:
Immediately. Salary: $48,700 to $78,900 per year (including $7,730 supplemental stipend for 26-27 school year).
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishes clear lesson objectives, employs diverse instructional techniques and media, and implements district educational philosophy.
Essential Functions- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times.
- Plan a program of study that meets students’ individual needs, interests, and abilities; prepare for classes and provide written evidence upon request.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, suitable for students’ maturity and interests.
- Supervise students to protect them from harmful conditions; take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports; maintain accurate, complete records.
- Diagnose learning disabilities regularly and seek assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Assist administration in implementing student life and conduct policies, develop classroom rules and procedures, and maintain order.
- Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when requested.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides or volunteers and evaluate their performance with department heads.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. - Experience:
None. - Certifications & Licenses:
Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.
- Knowledge of subject content.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organization, time management, and task management skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets individual student needs.
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading, lesson plan preparation, etc.
- Ability to manage students and maintain classroom behavior standards.
