Job Description

Starting Salary: $48,700. Additional Referendum money is available for the next two years starting at $7,730 for the 26-27 school year; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on the date of hire.

Job Summary

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the district’s philosophy of education. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicates these objectives to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of students.

Essential Functions

Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.

Plan a program of study that meets individual student needs and interests; prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation when requested.

Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity and interests.

Supervise students to protect them from harmful conditions; take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required; maintain accurate records per law and district policy.

Diagnose learning disabilities of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as required.

Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop reasonable classroom behavior rules and maintain order fairly.

Make provisions for being available to students and parents outside instructional day as required or requested under reasonable terms.

Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides/volunteers; evaluate their performance cooperatively with department heads.

Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None.

Certifications & Licenses: Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education certification in appropriate subject area.

Knowledge of subject content
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong time management skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets individual student needs
Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading papers, lesson plans, etc.
Ability to manage students
Ability to manage multiple tasks
