This position provides administrative support to students, faculty and staff to address individual needs including challenges. This individual will help to support students through referral to appropriate campus resources and through collaboration with other support units to ensure timely and effective assistance.
Job Function- Provide customer service to guests, students, and parents as the first point of contact.
- Manage front office processes to ensure efficient welcoming and referral of faculty, staff and student visitors to academic advising.
- Perform advising administrative functions while working directly with students and families to answer educational questions and concerns.
- Provide one‑on‑one assistance to the public in person, over the telephone, and through e‑mail or other written correspondence.
- Perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the responsibilities and functions of the area(s).
- Problem solve and troubleshoot.
- Collect and analyze data as appropriate with discretionary use under FERPA rules, for use in handling all student activities.
- Serve as liaison between university administrators, students, parents, faculty, staff, and others regarding advising activities.
- Maintain communication with other departments and vendors on departmental business needs.
- Recommend policies and procedures to help ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.
- Assist in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and or programs.
- Empowered to address issues raised by students consistent with department and University policies and procedures.
- Instructions will be given for new projects and specific completion dates required.
Must be able to work on the occasional Saturday to assist/participate in university events. During declared campus emergencies, the position may be required to perform job‑related duties at a designated off‑campus location or place of residence.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma and 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
- Experience working in a customer service setting required.
- Experience in higher education admissions/enrollment services strongly encouraged, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (both spoken and written) required.
- Must possess a strong sense of the importance of customer service.
- Must be well organized.
- Must have capacity to learn and implement strong conflict resolution skills.
- Must have strong computer skills.
- Support the goals, initiatives, policies and procedures of Academic Advising as set by both the President and the Provost required.
- Must be intimately familiar with all aspects of University and College policies along with operations of other units with which common collaboration is needed.
- Must be familiar with or be willing and able to quickly and accurately learn the policies, practices and functions of the University of North Florida.
- Must be able to perform processing and work tasks.
This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University's policy, this position may also require a credit check. The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX.
