Position: 26-27 Social Worker (High School)

Position Overview

The Social Worker is a year‑round, Florida‑certified position responsible for working closely with families, school counselors, teachers, students and school leaders to enhance the school’s ability to meet its academic mission. The licensed Social Worker identifies and supports students and families to eliminate barriers that impact learning, improving social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes, and acting as a liaison with community agencies to ensure services.

Specific Duties
  • Conduct assessments of individuals and families to improve student outcomes.
  • Provide reliable and valid assessments to inform the design of interventions.
  • Participate in the development of school‑wide prevention initiatives and policies related to attendance, safety, and positive culture.
  • Conduct home visits in partnership with the school counselor’s plan for attendance interventions.
  • Complete assessments of campus needs to prioritize service delivery.
  • Provide consultation to school personnel, parents/guardians, and community partners to enhance understanding of student needs and build school capacity.
  • Act as a liaison with community agencies to ensure continuity of services.
  • Offer crisis counseling and referrals to appropriate providers.
  • Demonstrate the use of evidence‑informed practices in interventions.
  • Utilize data to assess needs, plan interventions for individual students, groups, or whole school populations.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and punctual records while safeguarding privacy and confidentiality of information.
  • Meet professional development requirements set by the licensing board.
  • Adhere to state and district mandatory reporting requirements related to safety concerns.
  • Ensure services are delivered within a multicultural context.
  • Empower students and families to access and use school and community resources.
  • Assist with onboarding of new KIPP families.
  • Perform other duties as outlined by school or regional leadership.
Work Hours and Schedule

School staff hours: K‑8 staff 7:30 am‑4:30 pm;
High School staff 6:45 am‑3:45 pm. Student dismissal varies by grade, with Wednesday early release for staff professional development and wellness. This role mirrors school hours and is year‑round.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting salary for a first‑year Social Worker $53,000, adjusted for experience.

Qualifications Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and a relevant master’s degree to meet certification standards.
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility in School Social Work K‑12, maintained during employment.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, healthy, and empowering community for students.
  • Passing a background check as required by law (Florida House Bill 531 background screening).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of K‑12 school‑based Social Work experience with evidence of building systems and partnerships, or two or more years of K‑12 teaching experience with a proven record of high classroom achievement.
