Teacher - Math Interventionist
Duval County Public Schools – LONG BRANCH ELEMENTARY, Jacksonville, Florida
Job DescriptionSalary: $48,700 to $78,900 per year (starting salary $48,700; supplemental $7,000 for 26‑27 school year).
Job Summary: Provides explicit Mathematics instruction in a one‑to‑one or small group setting to improve specific mathematics skills of at‑risk students, supporting regular classroom instruction. Works with the principal and mathematics teacher to design intervention plans aligned with classroom objectives.
Essential Functions- Provide intensive instruction in mathematics to at‑risk students in one‑on‑one or small group settings.
- Identify at‑risk students by analyzing data from state and district assessments, grades, MAP, and other curricula objectives.
- Coordinate with the principal to schedule one‑on‑one or small group support based on current data.
- Work closely with the student’s mathematics teacher to align intervention with classroom instruction.
- Maintain accurate data and anecdotal records of student progress and report weekly via a progress monitoring database.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Three years of continuous teaching experience in mathematics, including work with at‑risk students.
- Certifications: Florida Department of Education Certification in Elementary Education K‑6 for Elementary interventionist, or Math 5‑9/6‑12 for Secondary interventionist.
- Strong knowledge of district‑approved instructional materials for mathematics instruction and intervention.
- Strong knowledge of foundational mathematics assessments (FAIR, district benchmarks, national norm‑referenced assessments).
- Strong knowledge of second‑language acquisition and oral language development.
- Strong knowledge of tools and district applications used to access student data.
- Thorough knowledge of the MAFS and CCSS Mathematics Foundational Standards.
- Working knowledge of multiple literacy assessment tools and diagnostic procedures.
- Strong skills in teaching across diverse populations, including students living in poverty, disabled students, and students whose primary language is not English.
- Strong skills in providing intensive and immediate reading intervention strategies.
- Strong skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development of best practices.
- Ability to demonstrate, model, and coach effective research‑based literacy instructional strategies in multiple instructional settings.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and utilize multiple types of data to improve student learning.
