East Voyager Academy of Charlotte is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to support middle school students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction, ensure compliance with IEP requirements, and collaborate with general education teachers to promote student growth and academic success in an inclusive environment.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with North Carolina policies and federal regulations
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in inclusion, resource, or self-contained settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and provide accommodations
- Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and services
- Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and related conferences
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with EC procedures and timelines
- Foster a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Must hold a current North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children (General Curriculum or appropriate area) OR be eligible and willing to obtain NC licensure
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and EC compliance requirements
- Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Previous middle school EC teaching experience
- Experience working in inclusion and co-teaching models
- Familiarity with behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and functional behavior assessments (FBAs)
- Knowledge of North Carolina EC policies and procedures
