Duval County Public Schools – FRANK H PETERSON ACADEMY/TECH, Jacksonville, Florida
Starting Date: Immediately
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $48,700 to $78,900 Per Year
Starting Salary: $48,700.
Additional Referendum money available ($7,730 for 26‑27 school year; prorated for mid‑year hires).
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and the like.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of students.
Strives to implement the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
Essential Functions- Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated locations and times.
- Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities; prepares for classes and provides written evidence of preparation.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate for the maturity and interests of students.
- Supervises students to protect them from conditions harmful to learning and to their safety; takes reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required; maintains accurate, complete, and correct records per law and district policy.
- Diagnoses students' learning disabilities on a regular basis and seeks assistance from district specialists as required.
- Assists administration in implementing student life and conduct policies; develops classroom rules and procedures, maintains order fairly and justly, and encourages students to set and maintain behavior standards.
- Is available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
- Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers; evaluates their performance with department heads.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: None.
- Certifications & Licenses: Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.
- Knowledge of subject content.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Strong word‑processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills.
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading, lesson‑plan preparation, etc.
- Ability to manage students effectively.
