Position Overview:
The Reading Lab Teacher focuses on providing additional support to fifth through eighth grade students beyond core ELA instruction. The role includes running the special reading lab block, delivering whole group and small group instruction, and monitoring student progress.
- Create a positive classroom environment and collaborate with teaching teams.
- Pull student groups, track academic progress, and ensure access to blended learning materials.
- Prepare and deliver lessons that reflect best practices and accommodate individual differences.
- Run a classroom of students during the specials block, covering all middle‑school grades.
- Provide enrichment and intervention instruction to diverse learners.
- Facilitate use of instructional technology platforms and monitor reading‑growth goals.
- Assess student learning through observations, authentic performance tasks, and formal methods.
- Give frequent feedback to students, provide progress reports, and communicate with parents.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Relevant Florida teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Middle Grades English 5-9.
- Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress).
- At least one complete year of teaching experience with demonstrated high achievement.
- Pass a background check, as required by law.
Preferred Qualifications
- Florida Reading Endorsement or coursework in progress.
- Two or more years of elementary or middle school ELA teaching experience, or small‑group instruction experience.
- Starting salary for a first‑year lead teacher: $50,000.
