Job DescriptionStarting Salary: $48,700 per year. Additional referendum money available for the next four years, starting at $5,400 for the 23‑24 school year. Teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on date of hire.
Job Summary
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with physical limitations and the needs of students. Strives to implement the District’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
Exceptional Student Education PositionsBelow are the most common school‑based ESE positions and their minimum qualifications.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: None required; salary based on verified years of teaching experience.
- Certifications & Licenses: Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education certification in the appropriate subject area.
- ESE Certified Behavior Analyst
- Three (3) years of successful teaching or work experience with students on the autism spectrum and/or with behaviorally complex needs.
- Experience with special education and related services for students with disabilities.
- Board certification as a Behavior Analyst AND Florida Department of Education teaching certification in at least one area of Exceptional Student Education, Guidance and Counseling, or School Psychology.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder endorsement preferred.
- ESE Intervention Representative
- Five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience in exceptional student education or a combination of exceptional/regular education teaching experience.
- Background in behavior management techniques is strongly recommended.
- Florida Department of Education certification in at least one area of Exceptional Student Education, Administration/Supervision, or Educational Leadership.
- Three (3) years experience working with students with disabilities.
- Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education certification in appropriate subject area.
- ESE Site Coach
- Three (3) years of experience working with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities/Autism.
- Certification in at least one area of exceptional student education (for Autism positions, Autism certification or endorsement required) and one area of a core content area or K-6 certification.
- ESE Lead
- Three (3) years experience working with students with disabilities.
- Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education certification in appropriate subject area.
- Knowledge of subject content.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills.
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading papers, preparation of lesson plans, etc.
- Ability to manage students.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Full‑time
Salary$48,700 to $78,900 per year.
