Job Description

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is seeking an up-to full‑time research faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will establish an independent, extramurally funded clinical research program focused on pain management, emergency medical services/prehospital care, clinical toxicology, pharmacogenomics, asthma, precision emergency medicine, and related fields. The role includes partnering with clinicians in a multidisciplinary approach to conduct patient‑focused, translational research, and pursuing funding from industry, foundations, and federal sponsors.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a high‑impact, funded research program aligned with departmental priorities.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and researchers across multiple disciplines.
  • Pursue extramural funding from industry, foundations, and federal sources.
  • Manage and mentor junior researchers and graduate students.
  • Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.
Required Qualifications

Candidates should have a doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, etc.) in a field related to emergency medicine, acute care, or resuscitation science.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of experience conducting research in emergency medicine, acute care, or resuscitation science.
  • A proven track record of securing funding from diverse sources, including industry, foundations, and federal sponsors.
  • Demonstrated publication record and post‑doctoral research experience (for early career candidates) or evidence of extramural funding as a principal investigator (for mid‑career candidates).
Expected Salary

Salary and academic appointment commensurate with experience; benefits are excellent.
