Salary and Incentives

Starting Salary: $48,700 to $78,900 per year. Additional referendum money ~ $7,000 for the 26‑27 school year (prorated based on hire date).

Job Summary

Provides counseling services for students by designing and implementing a multi‑layered, comprehensive, and accountable guidance program that prioritizes equity, access, and academic success for all students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the location and needs of students, and implements the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals.

Essential Functions

Designs and implements a data‑driven comprehensive guidance program to meet academic, career, and social/personal needs of students, while supervising student records.

Conducts classroom guidance activities focused on academic, career, and social‑emotional learning.

Monitors each student’s state assessment and course requirements for promotion and graduation.

Implents the district career program, providing information on curriculum, postsecondary opportunities, scholarships, financial aid, and career options.

Makes referrals to school and community agencies and provides timely feedback to teachers.

Offers developmental and preventive individual and group counseling to all students.

Conducts planned articulation and orientation programs for feeder schools.

Serves as a resource to school staff on guidance‐related activities and techniques.

Coordinates district/community counseling services conducted in the school, including the student services team.

Provides students, parents, and teachers with appropriate support, consultative services, and training.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in School Counseling and Guidance from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None required; salary based on verified years of teaching experience.

Certifications & Licenses: Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education specialization requirements for Certification in Guidance and Counseling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Florida statutes governing promotion, graduation, state assessment program, compulsory school attendance, credits, Florida Virtual School, and homeschooling.
Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Exceptional Student Education services eligibility requirements.
Knowledge of Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Knowledge of subject content.
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong time‑management skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading and lesson preparation.
Ability to manage students.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
