Teacher - School Counselor
Location:
Jacksonville, Florida.
Starting Salary: $48,700 to $78,900 per year. Additional referendum money ~ $7,000 for the 26‑27 school year (prorated based on hire date).

Provides counseling services for students by designing and implementing a multi‑layered, comprehensive, and accountable guidance program that prioritizes equity, access, and academic success for all students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the location and needs of students, and implements the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals.
Essential FunctionsEducation: Master’s degree in School Counseling and Guidance from an accredited college or university.
Experience: None required; salary based on verified years of teaching experience.
Certifications & Licenses: Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education specialization requirements for Certification in Guidance and Counseling.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Florida statutes governing promotion, graduation, state assessment program, compulsory school attendance, credits, Florida Virtual School, and homeschooling.
- Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Exceptional Student Education services eligibility requirements.
- Knowledge of Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Knowledge of subject content.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time‑management skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading and lesson preparation.
- Ability to manage students.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
