POSITION OVERVIEW
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks an 8th grade science teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.
Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their Principal.
OUR CURRENT MODELThere are four “home room” teachers on each grade level who each teach a core subject. Class size is typically about 26 students. Subjects on each grade level include English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science. Students in the fifth grade are part of the middle school model.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSOur current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000.

- Bachelor's Degree
- Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or eligibility in one of the following areas:
- Elementary Education K-6 for 5th or 6th grade Science
- Middle Grades Science 5-9 for grades 5, 6, 7, or 8
- Biology 6-12 for grades 6, 7, or 8
- At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track‑record of high achievement in the classroom

- Passing a background check, as required by law
- Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) if teaching English Language Arts
- ESOL Endorsement (or competency coursework in progress)
- Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track‑record of high achievement in the classroom in a relevant grade level
