Position Overview: This role supports the Director of Scientific Research in guiding students through independent research projects, with a primary focus on students working in the BSL-2 laboratory.
Department: Upper School Science
Position Type: Temporary (September 2026 – April 2027)
Position Responsibilities- Training students to safely work in the BSL-2 lab
- Directly supervising student research
- Cleaning and maintaining the BSL-2 lab
- Autoclave operation
- Providing supply lists to the Director for ordering
- Maintaining records of lab use and student training
- Working with students to schedule time-sensitive BSL-2 lab work
- Supporting students in troubleshooting research challenges
- Assisting with science fair paperwork & preparation
- Providing students with constructive feedback
- Assist in planning and preparing the School Science Fair
- Chaperone Regional (Typically Feb) and State Science Fair (Typically March, includes overnight stay in Lakeland)
Working Hours: Part-time
Work Schedule: Varies; weekday and weekend availability required, including some school holidays (11:30 AM – 5:30 PM)

- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field, either completed or in pursuit
- Experience in microbiology research
- Experience working with or supervising adolescents
- Employee must pass a background check, fingerprinting, , and complete the Safeguarding God’s Children class.
