About This Position

The primary responsibility of the Field Support Technician (FST) is to travel and repair proprietary equipment located at customer locations in their service area when dispatched by our customer-facing Service Desk. Customers first contact the Service Desk, which creates incidents for customer-related issues and, when needed, dispatches and remotely supports the FST on equipment repair. Equipment includes networking components, kiosks in use by the public, staff, and inmates, and vending machines (mechanical and IT related work).

Parts may be stored at a local warehouse or vehicle for quick repairs, and the Service Desk may configure or ship equipment from corporate for the FST to receive and use for installation or repair.

Travel

Field Support Technicians are expected to travel up to 75% of the time, including occasional travel into Saint Louis for hands-on training with equipment.

Essential Functions, Duties, And Responsibilities
  • Excellent communication with customers, the Service Desk, regional staff, and peers.
  • Diagnose, test, repair, and replace kiosks, PCs, vending machines, networking equipment, and other IT equipment located within jails and prisons.
  • Work with the Service Desk team on preventative maintenance and walkthroughs.
  • Use the provided company car to travel to customer locations within the service area.
  • Update the Work Order (WO) module with travel time, notes on work performed, and WO resolution.
  • Show willingness to learn new equipment and adapt to evolving product offerings.
  • Assist with service and maintenance of inmate phone systems within assigned regions.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
  • Associate's degree (A.

    A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in semi-structured environments.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have T-1 and analog circuit repair knowledge.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of multiple network disciplines and perform advanced diagnostics to isolate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Must be able to develop good working relationships with facility personnel.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong team-oriented business skill and a professional attitude in dealing with customers.
