Experienced Civil EIT - Transportation/Traffic

Location:

Jacksonville, Florida (FL). 1 day ago – the first 25 applicants will be considered. This is not a remote position.

Overview
Kimley‑Horn’s Jacksonville office seeks a Civil Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join the Transportation/Traffic team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic engineering and project‑management tasks for a variety of transportation planning, transit, traffic engineering, safety, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit, creating a vision for personal growth while contributing to the practice’s overall success.
  • Assist in managing projects profitably.
  • Engage in hands‑on practice and delivery of projects.
  • Transition work to qualified staff.
  • Act as a positive leader and mentor.
  • Contribute to marketing and business development efforts, pursuing leads and clients independently.
  • Perform a variety of engineering tasks and receive on‑the‑job and formal training, mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of traffic engineering experience, which may include preparing and/or reviewing traffic impact studies for small and large projects, parking studies, and site access and circulation studies.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an ABET‑accredited university in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Experience with Synchro, VISSIM, and/or other traffic analysis software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and detail orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
