Overview
Kimley‑Horn’s Jacksonville office seeks a Civil Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join the Transportation/Traffic team.
Responsibilities
- Perform traffic engineering and project‑management tasks for a variety of transportation planning, transit, traffic engineering, safety, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects.
- Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit, creating a vision for personal growth while contributing to the practice’s overall success.
- Assist in managing projects profitably.
- Engage in hands‑on practice and delivery of projects.
- Transition work to qualified staff.
- Act as a positive leader and mentor.
- Contribute to marketing and business development efforts, pursuing leads and clients independently.
- Perform a variety of engineering tasks and receive on‑the‑job and formal training, mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of traffic engineering experience, which may include preparing and/or reviewing traffic impact studies for small and large projects, parking studies, and site access and circulation studies.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an ABET‑accredited university in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with Synchro, VISSIM, and/or other traffic analysis software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent technical writing and detail orientation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
