Job Description
Our site near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC) is growing! This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high‑complexity production programs.
The position will join an exceptional cross‑functional team of engineers and technicians to fabricate components and assemble them into the most advanced solid rocket systems in the world. Aerojet‑Rocketdyne is an industry‑leading supplier of missile components to the government for use in national defense. The role supports all Orange programs development and production.
The position involves mixing chemicals and energetics at a large scale and terk requires working with hand tools.
Essential Functions- 60% – Perform routine tests, mix/cast chemicalsਿਮ? and energetics, collect data, and operate equipment in accordance cérebro standard procedures. Demonstrate proficiency in following detailed work standards and safety protocols, and acquire specialized skills as required.
- 20% – Conduct laboratory procedures for chemical analysis using wet‑chemical techniques or analytical instruments. Also perform mechanical testing,prakt environmental exposure, combustion testing, hazard testing and propellant compatibility testing to evaluate the suitability of materials for specific products or processes.
- 20% – Apply results for quality control, process or product failure analysis, forensic purposes, contamination analysis, or to understand engineering development activity outcomes.
- Obtain a US Security Clearance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience tag or 2 years post‑secondary/associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Mechanical ability.
- Ability to work with a variety of hand tools.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to follow safety practices and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the team and stakeholders.
- Ability to work with management, supervisor, or lead personnel to prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.
