Position SummaryAs an Electrical & Automation Specialist, you are responsible for all aspects of factory maintenance and the E&A strategy. You ensure electrical and process control equipment operates at optimal levels and provide automation, MES, and factory support during your assigned shift. You coordinate preventive maintenance for power distribution, automation, and MES systems, update electrical drawings, and troubleshoot issues to maintain PLC, HMI, and MES applications.
You collaborate with quality, safety, and production teams to uphold standards such as QMS and HACCP while supporting continuous improvement. You also participate in capital projects, including system integration, commissioning, and start-up activities, ensuring compliance with company standards and local codes.
Shifts:
Monday-Friday (Rotating On-Call Escalation Support)
This will include but not be limited to the following:
- Maintain optimum electrical and process control equipment facilities to meet the established objectives of the business.
- Provide automation, MES, and factory support on the assigned shift, including development of maintenance employees.
- Ensure alignment of maintenance processes with the final customers in production.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance on power distribution, automation and MES.
- Coordinate the drawing updates on any modifications done to the electrical systems.
- Perform troubleshooting in case of problems and ensure the PLC, HMI and MES applications are properly maintained.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as quality, safety, operations and production, with special emphasis on Quality Management Systems (QMS), Hazard Awareness Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Calibration.
- Develop in areas of responsibility to ensure support of operations.
Electrical & Power Distribution:
- Understand the factory electrical system from the Utility company lines to transformers, switchboards, distribution panels, MCC, motors, lighting fixtures, etc.
- Understand the existing electrical system loading profile, grounding, protection, maintenance needs, safety and reliability of the factory power system equipment.
- Understand the factory electrical criteria, standards and company guidelines.
Automation & Process Control:
- Maintain the factory process control system. Some of the activities are the following:
- Understand the existing process control infrastructure, configuration, requirements, networks, level of automation, etc.
- Coordinate the recording of modifications to the control system key documentation (configuration diagrams, P&IDs, process descriptions, etc)
- Understand the factory controls and IT criteria, standards, and company guidelines.
Capital Projects &
Collaboration:
- Participate in coordination of the implementation of the power distribution systems, motor control centers, control panels HMI, instrumentation, system integration, and commissioning and start up activities.
Minimum Education Level
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 3 years of experience in Electrical, Controls/Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering related roles
