MSI seeks a Safety Specialist to support operations by implementing and monitoring safety programs across active construction sites and company facilities. This position ensures compliance with Federal Standards, Company safety policies, and Client-specific requirements. The Safety Specialist actively promotes a strong safety culture, conducts site audits through active participation in field inspections, facilitates training, oversees subcontractor compliance, and assists in incident investigations to minimize risks and ensure safe project execution.
A clean driving record with the means to drive to job sites is required. Position requires small amount of overnight travel.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining industry-specific safety policies and site safety plans.
- Enforce compliance with OSHA, NFPA
70E, Environmental standards, company safety manuals, and owner/client requirements. - Participate in pre-planning and job hazard analyses (JHA/JSA) for new projects and high risk tasks.
- Support field leadership in identifying hazards and provide guidance for engineering, administrative, and PPE controls.
- Assist in the development and distribution of industry relevant safety alerts, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Communicate proactively with Leadership, Employees, and subcontractors to reinforce safety expectations.
- Conduct in-person safety training when required.
- Assist with rollout, testing, and continuous improvement of KPA Flex safety training and documentation forms.
- Support Leadership with assignment and tracking of required continuing education and compliance training.
- Perform site safety inspections to ensure compliance with Federal and Company expectations.
- Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, documenting findings and ensuring timely corrective actions.
- Track trends and share findings with Leadership to drive improvement.
- Conduct and document MSI Leadership Safety Field Inspections, including follow ups and corrective action verification (e.g., ladder deficiencies, PPE, equipment labeling issues).
- Assist Leadership with the monitoring of monthly vehicle inspections and ensure noncompliant items are escalated.
- Assist in investigating incidents, injuries, property damage, and near miss events on job sites.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and support leadership in developing corrective action plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including reports, photos, statements, and evidence.
- Support return to work and case management activities as needed.
- Ensure all incident and vehicle accident reports are complete and submitted into KPA within 24 hours, following MSI’s required chain-of-communication through Department Managers.
- Support compliance with preventive action documentation for all at fault and preventable incidents.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and project-specific requirements.
- Assist during regulatory inspections and client safety audits.
- Maintain familiarity with customer-specific safety processes as frequently engaged by MSI projects.
- Assist in developing and communicating site emergency action plans.
- Coordinate emergency drills, first-aid readiness, and evacuation procedures.
- Ensure emergency equipment is maintained, accessible, and compliant.
Required Qualifications
- Two year safety related experience.
- Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards.
- Experience on job sites (construction, commercial, industrial, civil, or utility).
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills with field and office personnel.
