Overview

WSP is initiating a search for an Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer for our Jacksonville, FL office to grow our Property & Buildings practice. This role targets a licensed Electrical Engineer with extensive healthcare design experience in Florida, combining technical leadership with business development to grow our Jacksonville Property and Buildings business.

Your Impact
  • Coordinate, review and approve electrical design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques to identify improvements across project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
  • Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, operating strategies, and design requirements that ensure safety and functionality for end-users, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Participate in the full project lifecycle from inception to completion in the management of electrical system design and construction.
  • Oversee cross-functional teams of engineers to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, hours and expenses tracking, task completion, technical calculations, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory/technical memos.
  • Prepare data and visualizations (tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections) for interpretation or presentation of complex data and analyses.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to address design or construction issues or opportunities.
  • Manage client relationships and provide key technical input on pursuit efforts; develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer
  • Professional Engineering license required
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical design, particularly in the healthcare industry
  • Known in the local community with an extensive network
  • Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and permitting/project work
  • Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management across renovation, new design, and construction projects
  • Keen understanding of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping
  • Ability to perform technical computations and interpret plans/specifications against regulations
  • Proven ability to coordinate and direct others to complete tasks safely and efficiently
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • LEED AP Certification
  • Previous healthcare or laboratory design experience
  • At least 5+ years of project management experience
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR ) preferred
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired
