OE has an immediate opening for an Invasive Plant Specialist in Jacksonville, FL
, on a Temporary As Needed basis (TAN). Estimated weekly hours of 0 to 24, depending on need.
- Field work to include invasive species control using mechanical control and herbicide application.
- Office work to include data management, documentation of field work, report writing assistance, under the supervision of staff biologists.
- Invasive plant surveys.
- Field data collection.
- Daily herbicide log record keeping.
- Handheld GPS data collection.
- Coordinating with Oneida project managers and land managers.
- Other related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience in biological or environmental sciences.
- Documented experience in conducting invasive species field work.
- Hold an FDACS Pesticide Applicators License, including Core and Category 21.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check with no felony convictions.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must pass a drug test.
- Ability to operate and maintain spray equipment.
- Ability to operate handheld mechanical equipment.
- Ability to accurately identify native and invasive plants to the species level.
- Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Must have a strong attention to detail in the documentation of work.
- Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
- Desire to work in the field for extended periods of time and maintain a positive attitude.
- Willingness and ability to travel if needed (occasionally).
- Demonstrated independent and effective problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
$28.00/Hour
