Our client is seeking aStructural Engineerto provide technical design support a government department. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and review of new construction, repair, and renovation projects for facilities. This role supports mission-critical infrastructure efforts and requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, code-compliant designs that meet government standards.

Location:Jacksonville, FL
Rate: $60/hr - $70/hr w2 (benefits eligible)
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and review structural calculations, design analyses, specifications, and construction drawings for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures.
- Prepare reports, design summaries, and technical recommendations for project managers.
- Support development of project scopes, design documentation, and cost estimates for military construction (MILCON), facility repair, and renovation projects.
- Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and structural condition evaluations to identify required repairs or modifications.
- Review design-build packages, contractor submittals, and shop drawings for technical accuracy and compliance with NAVFAC and UFC criteria.
- Apply current Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), DoD, and ASCE standards to design deliverables.
- Provide specialized structural engineering support for planning, design, and construction of Navy and Marine Corps facilities.
- Ensure coordination of structural design with architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering studies.
- Provide technical support during construction, including RFI responses, design clarifications, and on-site problem resolution.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain NACI/CAC eligibility isrequired.
- Commitment to NAVFAC safety policies and proper PPE usage during site visits and inspections.
- Proficient with structural modeling software (STAAD Pro, SAP
2000, RAM). - Knowledge of DoD and Navy design standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), ASCE 7, IBC, and federal design standards and requirements.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local codes and regulations related to building and structural design.
- Demonstrated experience preparing detailed analyses, drawings, and cost estimates for DoD or NAVFAC facilities or large-scale commercial facilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present design concepts and findings effectively.
- Experience with project budgeting, scheduling, and multi-discipline coordination.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required;
Master's preferred. - Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of structural engineering design experience, including at least 1 year on Federal or DoD projects. - Licensure:
Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred. - Software:
Autodesk (AutoCAD/Revit), Microsoft Office, and structural analysis software (STAAD Pro, RAM, SAP
2000).
