General Responsibilities

Evaluate and interpret subsurface field and sampling data including soil and groundwater to develop conclusions concerning the environmental and geologic site conditions. Generate subsurface maps and cross-sections and collaborate with engineering and environmental scientist staff on projects. Oversee field monitoring and testing of soils including boring investigations and soil type classification. Interpret soil, bedrock and groundwater elevation and quality data. Prepare written plans and reports related to site investigations, assessments and remediation activities.

Projects may include construction projects focusing on earthwork and structural foundations; well design and sampling; environmental assessments including Phase I/II site assessments; seismic risk assessments.

Some overnight travel (10-25%) for site visits, conferences, and project meetings is anticipated.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company.
  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices.
  • Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices.
  • Mid-level Geologist/ Environmental Engineer responsible for leading complex projects requiring innovative investigation techniques.
  • Supervise the analysis and formation of recommendations in written technical reports.
  • Assist in establishing and updating current policies/ procedures for technical projects in field of expertise, to ensure proper interpretation and implementation by subordinate staff.
  • Provide technical direction and training to less experienced professional staff.
  • Participate in the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients on projects.
  • Experience with various regulatory agencies, including the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
  • Demonstrated expertise with developing Site Assessment Reports, Remedial Action Plans, and other regulatory deliverables pursuant to Chapter 62-780, FAC and other Florida cleanup rules.
  • Previous engagement and/or management within the FDEP Waste Cleanup Program and/or Petroleum Restoration Program is preferred.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field and a minimum of 7 years’ related experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred or PhD preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Certification in field of expertise required.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) designation in the State of Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months.
