About HDR HDR is a multidisciplinary engineering firm specializing in power generation and renewable energy. Our team works on projects ranging from simple-cycle and combined-cycle gas turbines to photovoltaic solar farms, battery storage, and microgrids. Primary Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and coordinate the design team through schematic design and contract document phases.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers.
- Manage workload to meet project schedules.
- Conduct field visits with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
- Perform high-complexity engineering designs, calculations, research, and equipment selection.
- Develop mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for power plant systems.
- Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment (boilers, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, pumps).
- Produce mechanical design documentation, equipment lists, general arrangements, auxiliary power demands, and process flow diagrams (PFDs).
- Verify design deliverables against codes, standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
- Prepare construction documentation.
- Assist in scheduling, staffing, and resource planning.
- Provide technical mentoring and oversight.
- Balance multiple concurrent engineering tasks.
- Develop testing and commissioning plans.
- Review engineering work following HDR Quality Process.
- Lead project teams and provide status updates.
- Maintain relationships with peers, clients, vendors, and sub-consultants.
- Identify and develop new strategic relationships to support winning projects.
- Travel occasionally as required.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Experience in proposal development and client management.
- Minimum of 7 years of project execution experience in Power or Heavy Industrial markets.
- Engineering experience with simple/combined cycle gas turbines, renewables, coal, or hydroelectric systems.
- Knowledge of large‑scale power generation mechanical systems.
- Consulting engineering background is highly desirable.
- Ability to produce design drawings (one‑liners, three‑liners, schematics, general arrangements, bill of materials).
- Experience developing proposals and estimates for Power Generation and Renewable projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Professional Engineering license (PE or equivalent) recognized in the location of the position.
- Extensive project execution experience within the Power Market Sector.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and power sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, Revit).
