Lab Automation Applications Specialist - Southeast

The National Applications Specialist is responsible for moderate to large‑scale implementations of complex automation systems within diagnostics laboratories. The role involves network interfacing, workflow development, and collaboration with field service and project management teams.

• Develop expert software and applications skills to support laboratory automation systems, providing technical guidance to field support teams with limited supervision; execute implementation processes that create reference‑level customers.

• Communicate complex concepts effectively to both internal and external customers, serving as a technical expert, directing and facilitating work activities of others; provide advanced applications and workflow troubleshooting, both on‑site and via remote phone support to customers, field applications, and hardware specialists.

• Utilize mentoring and training abilities to transfer vital system knowledge and operational skills to customers and front‑line support personnel.

• Support development of effective workflows and supporting processes through experience, influence, and gaining agreement with customers.

• Bachelor's degree in Medical, Biological Sciences, Engineering, or a related technical major with 3+ years of relevant industry or military experience; or associate's degree in a similar discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience.

• Operational experience with diagnostics laboratory instrumentation.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and collaborate across customer account and business functions through proven customer‑facing interpersonal communication and facilitation skills.

• Previous experience in diagnostics laboratory automation applications highly preferred.

• Strong computer skills (MS Office), knowledge of network/LIS communication, and troubleshooting skills.

• Up to 80% flying and/or driving travel, including overnight stays and short‑notice travel; must be within one hour of a major metropolitan airport.

• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

• Must have a valid U.S. passport.

• Ability to regularly lift, move, slide, raise, and/or place up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to stand, walk (prolonged), sit; squat and kneel, ascend and descend stairs; reach with hands and arms.

The hourly range for this role is $35.00 to $45.00 per hour, which may be modified in the future. The role is eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
