Job Description
WSP is searching for a Sr. Environmental Engineer to work from our Jacksonville, FL – Bay meadows Road office. The role will provide technical support for environmental due diligence, site assessments, monitoring, and remediation projects. Responsibilities include developing and implementing site assessment work plans, directing field activities, managing subcontractors, evaluating environmental conditions, and producing concise technical reports with conclusions and recommendations.
Your Impact- Manage environmental assessment activities, including data collection from soil, soil gas, sediment, surface water, and groundwater samples, and from contaminant types such as volatile organic substances, metals, pesticides, and per‑and poly‑fluoroalkyl substances.
- Design soil and groundwater remediation plans using technologies such as soil excavation, soil vapor extraction, and enhanced bioremediation.
- Oversee and monitor local and remote teams executing project work, tracking budgets, labor hours, expenses, and subcontractor costs.
- Prepare data visualizations (tables, charts, models, cross‑sections) for the interpretation or presentation of complex data, findings, or analyses.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports describing methodologies, analytical results, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and technical staff professionally and confidently.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant post‑education experience in environmental engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in evaluating and designing modified active gas sampling and soil vapor extraction systems, including pre‑design field surveys and implementation oversight.
- Effective self‑leadership with attention to detail, results‑oriented attitude, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Project management experience and the capability to successfully execute project work within budget and schedule for small to medium sized projects.
- Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non‑engineering audience.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies, including site‑specific Health and Safety Plans.
- Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain one within the first year of employment.
- Experience working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Waste Cleanup Program – Waste Site Cleanup Section. Experience with the Dry cleaning Solvent Cleanup Program is particularly preferred.
- 40‑Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER), Basic First Aid, and Adult CPR training.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may occasionally extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Rare travel may be required depending on project‑ or business‑specific requirements.
