Job Description

This role focuses on depot-level troubleshooting, assembly, and repair of aircraft electrical and avionics systems, with an emphasis on F‑18 platforms. You will interpret complex technical documentation, perform hands‑on electrical and avionics work, and clearly document all maintenance actions in a fast‑paced, flightline‑adjacent environment.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, and electrical and wiring diagrams to support maintenance activities.
  • Assemble, install, and modify aircraft electrical systems and associated avionics components in accordance with established procedures and technical data.
  • Perform depot‑level troubleshooting on all avionics systems, with a strong focus on F‑18 aircraft, to identify root causes of electrical and system faults.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues in aircraft electrical wiring, harnesses, and avionics installations at the O‑level.
  • Document all repair and troubleshooting actions clearly and accurately, including equipment status tags, maintenance logs, and parts requests.
  • Collaborate closely with other aircraft mechanics and technicians to coordinate work, share technical information, and ensure safe and timely completion of tasks.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, technical orders, and quality standards while working in and around aircraft and the flightline.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and providing feedback on schematics, procedures, and test processes.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • At least 4 recent years of aircraft electrical O‑level experience on F‑18 aircraft.
  • Hands‑on experience as an AT Avionics Technician with O‑level maintenance responsibilities.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience on F‑18 or F‑5 aircraft avionics systems at depot level.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, and electrical and wiring diagrams.
  • Demonstrated ability to assemble, install, and troubleshoot aircraft electrical systems and associated avionics components.
  • Experience with avionics installation and wiring harness work on F‑18 aircraft.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance, with eligibility to begin work on an interim clearance.
  • Ability to clearly document repair actions, equipment status tags, maintenance logs, and parts requests.
  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented aircraft maintenance environment.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous depot‑level troubleshooting experience on multiple avionics systems is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with modifications to aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
  • Experience working alongside multidisciplinary aircraft maintenance teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to technical and safety procedures.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating work and documenting maintenance activities.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $36.00/hr.

Work Environment

The role is based in an airport hangar adjacent to the flightline at Cecil Field, providing direct exposure to active aircraft operations. You will work in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented environment alongside experienced mechanics, including teams from major aerospace organizations. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. No personal tools are required, as necessary equipment is provided on site.
