We’re hiring a Staff Engineering Technician – Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) to support innovative Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects with Black & Veatch.
If you have strong experience with Autodesk Civil 3D
, grading, drainage, and utility plan development, this is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale distributed infrastructure projects alongside a high-performing engineering team.
In this role, you’ll support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables for BESS infrastructure projects. You’ll work with advanced design tools and collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality civil site designs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop site drainage, grading, and utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley Micro Station
- Create and modify technical drawings and engineering deliverables
- Develop proposed grading surfaces and detailed site layouts
- Perform design calculations, material quantities, and estimates
- Ensure deliverables comply with project standards, codes, and quality requirements
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams
- Review design inputs and maintain consistency across deliverables
- Support continuous improvement, quality control, and change management initiatives
- Provide technical guidance and support to other engineering professionals and technicians
- Assist with schedules, work assignments, and project coordination as needed
- Strong experience with Autodesk Civil 3D
- Experience developing grading, drainage, and utility plans
- Knowledge of engineering standards, document control, and design procedures
- Ability to work independently under general supervision
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Experience with infrastructure or energy-related projects preferred
- Experience supporting Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects
- Understanding of civil site development and utility coordination
- Previous experience in engineering consulting or infrastructure projects
