* The Director, R&D Equipment Engineering provides strategic direction and leadership to the teams that are accountable for R&D equipment engineering activities. This leader develops and executes the strategy to ensure development of prototype products, processes, equipment, enabling technologies, and engineering services to deliver new contact lens and IOL products. Provides strategic and technical leadership to develop new technology solutions. Translates organizational objectives into clear goals and priorities.

This leader directs a variety of engineering projects utilizing a wide range of engineering principles. The Director leads engineers or engineering managers who support engineering projects to support delivery of R&D priorities. In addition to R&D priorities, this leader collaborates across the organization to ensure engineering best practices are developed, shared, and deployed. The leader is accountable for all aspects of the end-to-end R&D Product Supply Chain including budgeting, staffing, capital planning, and scheduling in a highly dynamic R&D environment.

This role will interface and influence the senior leadership team, R&D Platform teams, Ophthalmic Materials, Regulatory Affairs, QA, Marketing, MAKE and Supply Chain to ensure the Engineering team is supporting the global organization. The Director takes a lead position in activities with outside vendors from beginning of design process through feasibility and start-up processes.  Adheres to environmental policy, procedures, and supports department environmental objectives.
