Structural Engineer (PE) – Jacksonville, FL
Hybrid Schedule – Full Time | Salary: $120–$160K (dependent on experience)
Job DescriptionResponsibilities include leading and supervising design projects, managing client relationships, and ensuring structural design compliance.
- Project Design Supervision / Department Head (30%)
- Develop plan of work and oversee drawings as required.
- Perform field work: inspecting plant conditions, verifying existing conditions, designing structures, and layout of new equipment for efficient use of space and resources.
- Develop design concepts for installation of equipment and structures.
- Coordinate with other disciplines as required to produce cost‑effective projects that meet design intent.
- Verify detailed design compliance with design intent and standards.
- Manage workload for direct reports and conduct annual reviews.
- Contribute to raise calculations for direct reports.
- Project Management (20%)
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients.
- Lead scope development efforts by interfacing with clients as needed.
- Communicate scope needs to designers or other engineers.
- Obtain quotes for engineering, equipment, material, and services.
- Develop bid packages, lead bid meetings and evaluate bids.
- Manage procurement and construction activities.
- Coordinate project safety, timing, and other issues.
- Lead checkout and startup activities.
- Control documents generated during the course of the project.
- Issue documents to client for permanent storage.
- Close out projects in file system.
- Structural Design (40%)
- Take design responsibility for all structural work.
- Provide design guidance and review for design work by others.
- Perform calculations as required.
- Work with applicable codes to ensure design compliance.
- Stamp structural drawings in AL, FL, and GA.
- Business Development (10%)
- Attend bid meetings or walk‑downs with clients.
- Develop internal estimates and proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering.
- PE license.
- 5+ years of structural design experience for industrial projects with concrete and steel.
- Ability to perform calculations and create analysis models with STAAD.
- Preferred:
Experience in pulp/paper mill projects.
