Senior Civil Engineer
RQ Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing Engineering team in Jacksonville, Florida. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale, mission-driven projects supporting the U.S. Department of Defense while collaborating with a nationally recognized Design-Build firm.

Position Overview
The Senior Civil Engineer will lead and manage multiple civil engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring compliance with military and federal design standards. This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key responsibilities include site development planning, grading and drainage design, utility coordination, construction support, and resolving technical design issues throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys mentoring junior staff, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and oversee civil engineering designs for commercial and federal construction projects
- Develop grading, drainage, utility, and site layout plans
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, project managers, and construction teams
- Conduct site visits and support field operations as needed
- Ensure designs meet applicable U.S. military and federal requirements
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget expectations
- Assist with process improvements and departmental growth initiatives
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $125,000 – $175,000 annually, depending on experience

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
- Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering design, project delivery, or related industrial construction projects (foundation and below aspects: design land development, building pads, infrastructure for new builds, etc.)
- At least 6 years of experience focused on grading, drainage, and utility design
- Department of Defense (DoD) project experience preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel required
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed
