You’ll also take the lead on stormwater management, earthwork analysis, and coordinating designs that meet local regulations and client goals.

Our projects range from a large warehousing complex, all-star sporting arena, residential development, to planning a mixed-use establishment in a downtown business district.

Responsibilities
  • Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances, utility service research, and other regulations to determine land development limitations.
  • Conduct site investigation and due diligence, including site visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines.
  • Prepare concept drawings based on client development objectives, including coordination with AutoCAD draftsmen.
  • Lead review and design of stormwater management and conveyance systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology design software.
  • Perform pipe sizing calculations for stormwater conveyance systems and develop drainage area maps.
  • Evaluate surface runoff coefficients, invert, slope, velocity and hydraulic grade lines using the Rational Method and Manning’s equation.
  • Apply local stormwater management design regulations.
  • Design grading to achieve value engineering through earthwork analysis and site safety via appropriate slopes.
  • Develop subdivision and site plans, including layout.
  • Design utility systems, including stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer service, pump station, water, gas, and telephone service, and resolve vertical and horizontal conflicts.
  • Design soil erosion and sediment control, including stability calculations, best-management practices, swales, spillways, and construction sequencing.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates based on site plan drawings for bonding and client purposes.
  • Work independently and lead other engineers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 4-7+ years of related experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate respectfully.
  • Strong ability to learn and apply technical skills.
  • Knowledge of local municipal, county and state land use, planning and zoning processes.
  • Proficiency in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development designs.
  • Demonstrated Civil 3D skills from concept to completion.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices.
  • Advanced investigative, analytical and research skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, for client, contractor and co-worker interactions.
