Senior Project Manager

Leidos Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Strategic Project Consulting team within our Power Delivery Solutions division. In this role, you will work alongside engineering managers and account managers to provide Project Management Services supporting various electric utility clients. You will oversee a portfolio of electric utility capital projects with a particular emphasis on substation projects - including new substation construction, substation expansions/rebuilds, and protection & control upgrades - alongside a broader mix of transmission and distribution work.

As a senior member of the team, you will bring seasoned judgment to complex, high-visibility substation programs, own portfolio-level outcomes, and shape how the team delivers this work.

As a Senior Project Manager in our Strategic Project Consulting group, you'll play a leading role in driving creative Project Management Solutions for Leidos' utility customers, with substation projects as a core focus of your portfolio. You can expect to:

  • Lead project execution teams with a diverse set of contributors - including Engineering, Construction, Permitting, Siting, Environmental, Cost Controls and Scheduling functions - to deliver comprehensive capital projects for our electric utility client
  • Take ownership of portfolio performance, including cost, schedule, and scope management, serving as the escalation point on complex or at-risk substation projects and applying recovery and risk-mitigation strategies to keep projects on track
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client and internal stakeholders, presenting portfolio health and project status to the client and Leidos leadership, resolving escalated issues, and driving risk mitigation across the project portfolio
  • Manage monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable processes
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities to support organizational growth, including strategy for new pursuits and expanding relationships with our utility client
  • Establish and enforce project controls, contract compliance, and quality standards across the portfolio, including leading post-project audits and lessons-learned reviews on substation deliveries to drive continuous improvement
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including clients, project teams, subcontractors, and support personnel
  • Develop and champion portfolio-wide risk management processes, proactively identifying project risks and escalating to senior leadership as needed
  • This role is mostly remote in nature, but candidates should be able to report to Jacksonville office once a week, and may be asked to report to job sites on an infrequent, as-needed basis

What you'll bring to the table (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or other relevant field
  • 8+ years of progressive Project Management experience within the Utility Industry, preferably Experience as a Project Manager at an electric utility and/or an electric utility consulting company
  • Demonstrated Experience working with US Electric Utilities, and a comprehensive understanding of electric power and infrastructure projects is required
  • Direct experience working with electric power infrastructure projects, with substation project experience (design, construction, and/or commissioning) strongly preferred
  • Supervisory experience including team building and talent acquisition
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on portfolio management and team development
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel periodically as required

You Might Also Have:

  • PMP Certification or willingness to obtain within two years
  • Prior experience in a leadership position
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience with PowerBI and/or visualization tools
