Machine Vision Engineer Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Machine Vision Hardware Engineer to support qualification and validation activities across multiple imaging technologies. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer (0-4 years of experience) who has a strong interest in machine vision systems, camera hardware, optics, and laboratory testing environments.
The successful candidate will focus on camera hardware integration, configuration management, optics evaluation, and execution of established qualification processes. This is not an image processing or computer vision algorithm development role. Instead, the emphasis is on hands-on hardware work, testing execution, data collection, and technical report generation.
Key Responsibilities- Support machine vision system qualification and validation activities for multiple imaging technologies.
- Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot camera hardware and associated vision system components.
- Work with optics, cameras, and related hardware in a lab environment.
- Execute established imaging qualification methodologies and testing procedures.
- Generate comprehensive image qualification reports using existing templates and documentation standards.
- Improve and refine existing report templates and qualification documentation where appropriate.
- Perform qualification activities across numerous technology evaluations while maintaining consistency and accuracy.
- Manage hardware configurations, test setup documentation, and configuration control records.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure testing is completed according to established standards and processes.
- Maintain meticulous records and documentation of test results, observations, and findings.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
- 0-4 years of relevant experience in machine vision, imaging systems, hardware testing, optics, or camera integration.
- Understanding of machine vision system fundamentals.
- Experience working with cameras, optical systems, sensors, or related hardware technologies.
- Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with a highly organized and methodical work style.
- Ability to follow established testing protocols and execute qualification plans independently.
- Comfortable working in a lab environment and being onsite as project needs require.
- Experience with camera configuration and hardware setup.
- Familiarity with GigE/GigE Vision communication protocols and camera connectivity.
- Exposure to configuration management processes.
- Experience generating test reports, validation documents, or engineering qualification reports.
- Knowledge of imaging system performance evaluation and characterization.
- Early-career engineer with strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn.
- Highly detail-oriented and quality-focused.
- Enjoys executing structured engineering processes with consistency and precision.
- Comfortable balancing hands-on lab work with technical documentation.
- Able to take an established playbook and efficiently execute it across multiple technology evaluations.
- Execution of imaging qualification activities across approximately 25 technology evaluations.
- Completion of image qualification reports using established templates and processes.
- Continuous improvement of qualification documentation and reporting standards.
- Accurate configuration and test records supporting engineering decision-making.
This role is best suited for a motivated junior engineer who enjoys hands-on hardware work, documentation, and process execution within a machine vision environment.
