Position Summary

The Stage Manager is directly responsible for managing activities on stage relating to all Britt events, including serving as technical support. The Stage Manager supervises stage‑related activities, including rehearsals, soundchecks, and performances at Britt’s outdoor venue.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee all onstage operations for performances: prepare daily show needs using advances; schedule and supervise stagehands; provide technical assistance to artists; ensure safe and efficient load‑ins and load‑outs; monitor and track stage supplies; manage backline and equipment inventory and maintenance.
  • Maintain a presence on stage during load‑ins/outs, rehearsals, sound checks and performances.
  • Manage pavilion during the Britt Festival Orchestra, including locking and unlocking, coordinating scheduling with the Production Manager and Orchestra Manager, set the stage in required configurations, and provide technical assistance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe stage environment throughout the season.
  • Assist with the Jacksonville Elementary School musical production and other Education or community events.
  • Support/assist with special Orchestra and Fundraising events at the Pavilion (Gala etc).
WORK SCHEDULE, ENVIRONMENT &

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

As an events‑driven organization, Britt’s work schedule varies depending on the activities of the season and the day. Schedule varies significantly and is mostly based on show days (with prep days). This position requires working many nights and weekends during the summer months. Some show days can be in excess of 14 hours. This position is eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week.

Work will occur primarily at the Britt Festival Pavilion in Jacksonville, with occasional meetings at the Britt Administrative Office in Medford.

This position requires the ability to carry items of up to 30 pounds, to sit or stand outdoors for long periods of time, and to travel up and down steep hills.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of two years of experience with technical theater, orchestra management, or concert production.
  • A positive attitude, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and experience building cooperative relationships with coworkers and visiting artists.
  • An interest in or curiosity about music, the arts, and cultural institutions as community builders
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, daily access to a reliable automobile, and valid insurance
COMPENSATION

This is a seasonal hourly position starting April 1 and ending at the conclusion of the Britt season. Hours fluctuate based on scheduled performances, and generally include very long show days with overtime hours and minimal hours on days without a show. This position requires working many nights and weekends during the summer season.
