General
Summary:
Responsible for accompanying the Sunday Masses, Holy Days of obligations, Easter Season, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Weddings and Funerals. A willingness to work as a team player, and overall dependability and accessibility are very important in this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare all music for Sunday Masses, Holy Days of obligation, Easter and Christmas.
- Prepare and play during First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Weddings and Funerals.
- Work with Pastor to prepare liturgical musical arrangements.
- Bachelor’s degree in music preferred.
- Must have a deep love of Jesus Christ and His Church, shown by an active prayer life and service at his/her parish.
- Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Must have the capability to fluently read modern and Gregorian music notation.
- Must be a proficient sight-reader.
- Must have ability to receive constructive criticism and adapt as needed.
- Must be able to communicate professionally in writing and speak with a variety of people.
- Must have a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Maintain proficiency in playing piano, particularly regarding liturgical musical arrangement.
- Must pass a background check and complete Safe Environment Training.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
