Job Title: Cost Accountant

Position Summary

The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, preparing cost reports, and ensuring accurate valuation of inventory and cost of goods sold. This position plays a key role in supporting financial planning, product pricing, and operational efficiency by providing insights into cost drivers and profitability across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for all manufactured products and components.
• Prepare detailed cost variance analyses and investigate material, labor, and overhead variances.
• Work closely with production, engineering, and procurement teams to monitor and control manufacturing costs.
• Analyze inventory valuation, reconcile inventory accounts, and ensure accurate reporting in the general ledger.
• Support the month-end close process, including journal entries, cost roll-ups, and reconciliations.
• Review bills of materials (BOMs) and routings for accuracy and cost integrity.
• Assist in developing annual budgets and forecasts, including cost assumptions and production metrics.
• Provide financial insights to support pricing decisions, product line profitability, and process improvements.
• Maintain and improve internal cost accounting procedures and controls.
• Participate in audits and provide supporting documentation as needed.
