The Finance Department is actively seeking a Manager of Accounting Services – Budgetary Accounting. This role ensures accurate budget recording into the City’s accounting system by reviewing, tracking, and reconciling budgetary transactions and internally funded projects.
Responsibilities- Supervise, review, and approve amending budgetary transactions citywide
- Calculate fund balances, annual recapture, GASB 34 City‑wide reconciliation, and other financial/CAFR reports to ensure budget alignment with actuals
- Reconcile and balance financial statements, accounting records, and ledgers
- Develop, implement, and review internally funded projects budgetary accounting in collaboration with CIP Administrator and Budget Office
- Develop and maintain budget‑related project reports; prepare periodic financial reports to include budget‑to‑actual revenue and expenditure information; analyze significant variances and present information to city leadership
- Analyze and monitor operating budgets, identifying areas of concern to proactively address or correct in a timely manner
- Serve as process owner for the financial system’s budgetary control and encumbrance accounting and project financial management modules, providing functional oversight, troubleshooting support, and end‑user training
- Responsible for monthly and annual budget and project module close/open
- Schedule, assign, review, and evaluate the work of assigned staff
- Communicate clear direction, manage for results, and lead organizational change
- Assign responsibility, take corrective action, and demonstrate leadership in evaluating, developing, and motivating employees
- A six‑year combination of education and professional experience in accounting or a related field, with at least one year of management experience
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting - Preferred certifications: CPA, CGFO, CGPO, and CGFM
