Tax Accountant, Payroll
Job Description
- Process bi-weekly payroll in a multi-state environment
- Perform payroll adjustments and tax corrections
- Maintain and update tax tables in Workday
- Handle payroll-related inquiries from employees and managers
- Provide customer service to internal employees (employees are the 'customer')
- Coach and guide managers through:
- Payroll terminology
- Workday navigation
- Payroll FAQs
- Execute cyclical reporting related to payroll
- Support special payroll-related projects as needed
- Perform routine, repetitive tasks within a small team environment

- Payroll Certifications
- Minimum: FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
- Strongly Preferred: CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)
- Multi-State Payroll Expertise
- Experience processing payroll across all 50 states
- Strong understanding of tax compliance and regulations
- Familiarity navigating state/local tax nuances
- Payroll Systems Experience
- Hands‑on experience with Workday payroll
- Updating tax tables
- Processing tax adjustments
- Payroll Compliance & Tax Knowledge
- Deep experience in payroll compliance
- Ability to research tax issues independently
- Uses tools like:
- Bloomberg Tax
- Local/state tax guides
- Experience with Top Loc (or similar tax/configuration vendors)
- Exposure to payroll system clean‑up or remediation projects
- Background supporting post‑implementation payroll stabilization
- Bachelor's degree (if no CPP) in Accounting/Finance
