Staff Accountant

Vaco has a great opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a direct hire role that is fully onsite. Position Summary A growing organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its finance team. This role will support month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and forecasting efforts while helping maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities Manage month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and allocations to support timely financial reporting Prepare monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis by identifying trends and potential financial risks Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, payroll, intercompany activity, and other balance sheet accounts Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure sub-ledger activity reconciles appropriately Support external audits by preparing schedules, work papers, and supporting documentation Assist with maintaining and improving accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial workflows Collaborate with operational leaders to provide financial insights and support budget-related questions Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience Experience managing full-cycle month-end close processes Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and lookup functions Experience working within ERP/accounting systems Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders

Preferred Experience Professional services industry experience preferred

Experience with financial reporting and reconciliation-heavy environments Exposure to AI or automation tools used for data analysis and reporting is a plus Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Team-oriented mindset with a high level of professionalism and internal customer service skills A Plus to have: IOTA experience; law firm experience, Aderant;

experience using Generative AI (e.g., Claude) to automate data extraction to perform high-level variance analysis.
