Department OverviewFinancial Control team sits within the Finance department in the Americas.
Role DescriptionNomura’s Finance Control team, in the Americas, is looking for an Associate/Vice President to join the team. The candidate will focus on the monthly close process, quarterly reporting, and annual financial statements for the investment management business. This includes the supervision of accounting staff, managing external audit queries, and helping manage new business changes. The ideal candidate should have strong understanding of US GAAP reporting.
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual with a track record of working in a high volume and results oriented environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to drive meaningful change and contribute to initiatives that are of high importance to Nomura’s Management team.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Support external audits, regulatory reporting requirements, and other filings
- Participate in discussions with external auditors and consultants
- Continue the implementation of financial and accounting best practices
- Ad hoc projects as assigned supporting Nomura Asset Management International new products
- 5+ years of experience in an Accounting or Finance role, preferably in financial services or a related industry
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from accredited college/university
- Strong technical accounting skills
- Experience in financial services is highly preferred
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent analytics, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Enthusiasm for both quantitative‑driven and qualitative‑focused situations
- Advanced in MS Office particularly in Excel
