The Senior Home builder Banking Specialist is responsible for assisting Home builder Relationship Manager(s), primarily in servicing a book of business. Supports their lenders/teammates in the processing and administration of new home builder construction, lot, and acquisition & development loans. Focused attention on customer service activities with those same builder clients and teammates, as well as efficient interface with other support teams. Strong emphasis on rapid processing of new loan requests, satisfying general customer service calls, following up for various documents, and collateral document exception clearance as assigned by their Home builder Relationship Managers, as well as divisional and corporate leadership.
Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
- Accept and process in accordance to policies new loan requests and loan renewals in an accurate and timely manner.
- Preparation of new loan appraisal request, pre-commitment attorney memorandum, commitment letter, and maintenance of new loan log.
- Act as loan officer/customer/attorney liaison throughout closing process to ensure timely closings with all appropriate documentation as required.
- Receive, inspect for accuracy and complete loan closing packages from attorneys, and processing and booking of actual loans within Bank policy time constraints.
- Assists others in the follow up for collateral documentation not obtained at closing, to include recorded closing documents, building permits, hazard insurance, and flood plain verification, to ensure compliance with requirements as established by Bank policy.
- Maintain accurate records of new loans for departmental loan summary reports.
- Verify receipt and acceptability of appraisals, and payment of appraiser through loan closing, or directly from customer.
- Quote construction loan payoff and lot release amounts to closing attorneys and follow up on receipt of payoff.
- Administer and manage more complex transactions including Development loan financing and the tracking of lots/collateral releases.
- General administrative and secretarial support for construction loan officers to include typing, correspondence, communication with customers, answering customer/prospect questions, resolving problems as they arise from internal and external sources.
- Continually seek methods to improve efficiency and accuracy of departmental functions, reports and procedures.
- Practices ethical sales behaviors in accordance with Ameris' core values of Integrity and Honesty; always acts in the best interest of the customer when offering additional products and services.
Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Requires the ability to manage a large volume of multiple operational, relationship and transaction-oriented tasks.
- Must be self-motivated and able to operate independently in the absence of other departmental personnel.
- Must be able to type with speed, accuracy and minimal errors.
- Needs a thorough understanding of loan terminology, workflow of loan closing process.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of appraisals.
- Understand and able to manage closings of more complex transactions. Able to recognize potential problems in title policies, security instruments, and other loan documents.
- Intermediate computer proficiency to include the Microsoft Office Suite Products.
- Experience using nCino loan platform or other similar loan processing platforms/applications strongly preferred.
Work Experience:
- 6-8 years of experience in loan administration, operations or related field required.
- Experience in construction lending administration or real estate loan processing is bank/mortgage loan administration experience, especially in real estate preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in finance of related field required.
