Prior-Service Commissioned Officer U.S. Navy Reserve

If you’re a prior-service commissioned officer who has separated and later realized you miss the leadership, purpose, and long-term stability the military provided, this is a way to continue serving without returning to active duty.

Open to prior-service commissioned officers from all U.S. military branches.

• Nationwide, part-time service
• In-person drills with remote options during select drill weekends and weekdays
• Annual Reserve Compensation: ~$15,000–$20,000
• Additional Monthly Reserve Pay: ~$1,000 ±
• Sign-On Bonus:
  Up to $12,000 yearly (based on qualifications)
• TRICARE Select with reduced premiums and out-of-pocket costs
• Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
• Reserve retirement eligibility (as early as age 50 with qualifying service)
• 12 weeks paid maternity/paternity leave
• Childcare support during drill weekends (availability varies)

• Paid training programs
• Joint Professional Military Education (JPME I & II)
• Naval War College access
• GI Bill eligibility (if applicable)
• Navy COOL certifications and credentialing (PMP)

• Lead and mentor personnel to ensure mission readiness
• Support operations during drills, mobilizations, and contingencies
• Serve in community and liaison roles
• No production quotas—civilian career remains the priority
• Maintain deployment readiness when required
