Description
The incumbent is responsible for directing and supervising correctional probation officers and senior officers. This includes monitoring daily activities to ensure investigative and supervision services comply with Florida statutes and Department of Corrections rules. The supervisor may also oversee the day‑to‑day operations of a small office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees; planning and directing their work.
- Reviewing and approving correspondence and investigations such as pre‑sentence, post‑sentence, parole, and other investigative reports for quality and accuracy.
- Distributing workloads of correctional probation officers to ensure fair and consistent enforcement of supervision orders.
- Conducting case reviews at various intervals and approving early termination recommendations.
- Accompanying officers in the field to monitor compliance with safety procedures and supervision duties.
- Ensuring implementation of departmental policies and procedures and satisfactory delivery of services.
- Evaluating employee performance, developing improvement plans, and providing counseling.
- Ensuring staff compliance with mandatory training and managing leave requests to maintain coverage.
- Interviewing applicants and conducting background investigations.
- Maintaining liaison with the judiciary, prosecutors, public defenders, law enforcement, treatment providers, and other criminal‑justice agencies.
- Administering offender management tasks when necessary and conducting investigations as workload demands require.
- Assisting in the absence of the senior supervisor, serving on teams, and delivering training on duties and career development.

- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements
- Certified in accordance with Florida Statutes 943.13.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid driver’s license, as required by Florida Administrative Code and Statutes.
