Law Enforcement Position

Duties

• Develop law enforcement programs, training schedules, personnel actions and operating plans for the MCPD.
• Review and evaluate staff actions for adherence to MCPD and installation/training policies.
• Formulate long-range operating plans based on assigned missions and functions, facilities, equipment, funding, and staffing requirements necessary for mission accomplishments.
• Prepare reports relating to criminal and civil security hazards, complaints, and witness statements for use in future legal proceedings and investigations as required.
• Assign work through subordinate supervisors and be available to discuss problems and develop solutions.
• Coordinate with other law enforcement officials within regulations where applicable.
• Perform periodic and special statistical, financial, and productivity analysis and evaluations of short and long range requirements for the use of MCPD resources.
• Visit units/persons serviced and other law enforcement agencies in the area to discuss policy problems, solutions, and coordinate with operating officials of agencies.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Must be 18 years of age.
• Obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• Wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/Policies.
• Pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Possess and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. Maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
• Meet medical standards for Police Officers in DoD 6055.05M and NMCPHC-TM-OM 6260.
• Respond to off base circumstances as directed by the installation commander, in accordance with USMC and DOD policy.
• Pass a sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation and pass periodic re-tests as required.
• Pass all weapons qualifications tests and requalifications as required with assigned weapon.
• Pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation.
• Read, write, and speak English.
• Carry firearms.
• Undergo pre-employment urinalysis requirements and sustainment drug testing.
• Maintain program height and weight appearance standards.
• Not eligible if convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence.
• Pass a National Agency Check and local background check.
• Excluded from coverage as law enforcement officer for purposes of the Federal Retirement System-Base Annuity.
• Required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, that provided knowledge of a wide variety of laws and regulations relating to law enforcement operations, practices and techniques and involved the responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property;

supervising police officers; developing, implementing, and overseeing law enforcement programs and policies, training schedules, personnel actions and operating plans; resolves complex employee complaints and group grievances; performing statistical, financial and productivity analysis and evaluations for short and long range requirements in connection with prospective changes in various Operations and Service functions.
