Environmental Supervisor I with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Plant Industry, supervises Environmental Specialists in the protection, certification, and regulation of native and cultivated flora throughout Florida. The role involves planning and directing subordinate activities, managing budgets and resources, conducting quality control assessments, and serving as liaison between field operations and upper management. The incumbent also provides training on pest detection, plant regulations, and safety procedures while handling administrative duties including performance appraisals, hiring recommendations, and disciplinary actions.
Keyqualifications:
- High school diploma/equivalent plus 2 years as Environmental Specialist I or higher with State of Florida, OR 2.5 years in apiculture, environmental protection, regulation, health, physical/natural sc
- Bachelor's degree from accredited college/university plus 1 year relevant experience
- Valid Class E driver license
- Federal Accredited Certification Official (ACO) for Federal Phytosanitary Certificates
- Must obtain restricted-use pesticide license (Public Applicator's License) within six months of employment
